Elena M. Bruno, life-long resident of Jeffries St., Jeffries Point, East Boston, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday October 22nd.
Elena was born in Boston on July 13, 1924 to Giulio and Michelina DelBene. She moved into her home on Jeffries Street in the Jeffries Point section of East Boston as an infant. She met Paul Bruno at work and they were married on January 7,1951. They settled into Elena's family home and raised their family there.
Elena is survived by her five children: Stephanie Bruno of East Boston, Paul Bruno of Middleton, Thomas Bruno and his wife Phyllis of East Boston, Carol DiStefano and her husband Chuck of East Boston and Robert Bruno and his wife Jody of East Boston.
Elena was pre-deceased by her four siblings: Theresa Lombardi, Caroline Fontenot, Mary Bruno and Ralph DelBene.
She is the cherished grandmother of Lori Bruno-Lee and her husband Bryan, Kristin McComb and her husband Matthew, Michael Bruno and his wife Katlyn, Melanie Bruno, Nicholas DiStefano, Bianca DiStefano, Joseph DiStefano, Ariana DiStefano, Anthony Bruno, MaKenzie Bruno and Kristopher Bruno.
She is the adored great-grandmother of Alessandra, Carissa, Giuliana and Benjamin.
She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Elena was a devoted parishoner and volunteer at Our Lady of Assumption Church in East Boston. She was a member of the Woman's Solidarity Club, a Past-President of the Assumption School PTA, a volunteer with their Girl Scout summer camp as well as many other youth programs.
Family and friends will honor Elena's life by gathering at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home 971 Saratoga St., East Boston on Friday October 26th from 4:00 P.M to 8:00 P.M and again on Saturday morning at 8:30 A.M before leaving in funeral procession to Sacred Heart Church Brooks St., East Boston for a 10:00 A.M funeral mass in celebration of Elena's life. Services will conclude with Elena being laid to rest with her beloved husband Paul at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
