Edward C. "Buddy" Walsh of East Boston, born August 26, 1931, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018.
He was the devoted husband of Barbara B. (DeFranzo) Walsh for 55 years. They shared a loving marriage and enjoyed being with each other and their families, both traveling and hosting family gatherings.
"Buddy" was the son of the late James T. Walsh and Mildred Faretra of East Boston, and the brother of Michael Sicuranza of Middleton and the late James T. Walsh.
He is survived by his three daughters, Cynthia Bodio and her husband Joseph of Walpole, Deborah Marshall and her husband Ross of Maine and Carol Parr and her husband Walter of New Mexico. He leaves behind several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and their families. He also leaves behind a brother-in-law, sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
He was a dedicated Massachusetts DPW employee for more than 25 years and held several positions during the course of his employment.
He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict, being awarded the following medals: The Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Metal and The National Defense Service Medal. He carried his military service and commitment over by joining The Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he held many positions such as Post Commander and Board of Director, and was appointed to many state and national chairmanships. He was most proud when the National Commander-in-Chief appointed him National Chairman for Military Service.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation in celebration of "Buddy's" life on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 1 - 5 PM in the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St., East Boston, MA.
