Dorothy (Dottie) E. Roper, 63, most recently of Revere, MA, formerly of East Boston, MA, died unexpectedly on November 17, 2018. Dottie fought a long, hard battle with diabetes until ultimately succumbing to her disease.
Born in East Boston, Dottie was a lifelong resident of her beloved city before recently moving to Revere. She was a 1973 graduate of East Boston High School and worked in the insurance industry for several years following high school. She recently retired from the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center after being employed with the BIDMC for the past twenty two years.
She is survived by her precious cat Taffy, her mother, Theresa Roper, her sisters: Cathy Russo and her husband Johnny, Joany Caponigro and her husband Doug, Loretta DeMarco and her husband Rob, Patty Rickards and her husband Lynn, her brother Larry Roper and his wife Laura, ten loving nephews, a great nephew, two great nieces, and her devoted friend Jo Ann Rubino. Dottie’s friends and family will miss her talents in the kitchen, as well as her sense of humor. Music brought such great joy and peace to Dottie, especially anything Elvis. Hopefully, she will finally get to meet The King! Dottie will rest in peace with her late sister Jeanne Thompson.
Family and friends will honor Dottie’s life by gathering at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home 971 Saratoga St., East Boston on Sunday, November 25th from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and again on Monday morning at 10:30am before leaving in funeral procession to the Most Holy Redeemer Parish 65 London St, East Boston for an 11:30AM funeral mass in celebration of Dottie’s life. Services will conclude with committal prayers at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in West Peabody.
