Kilmartin - John F.D.P. Rev. Fr., Pastor of St.Joseph-St.Lazarus Church, East Boston passed away on Saturday April 17th 2010 at the age of 50 years.
Loving son of Hannah "Ann" (Smillie) Kilmartin of England, and the late William Kilmartin.
Dear brother of Clive Kilmartin of England, and the late Michael Kilmartin and his surviving wife Tracey and their daughter Lisa, also of England.
A Concelebrated Funeral Mass with his Excellency Bishop Robert F. Hennessey will be celebrated on Saturday April 24th, 2010 at 11:00am in St.Joseph-St.Lazarus Church, 59 Ashley Street, East Boston.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Church on Friday April 23rd from 3:00pm to 8:00pm.
John Kilmartin was born in Scotland on February 1st, 1960. He Studied in England, Ireland and Rome and was ordained a Don Orione Father in June 1986 in his native parish in England. Father John was assigned to be a Rector of the Madonna Queen of the Universe National Shrine in East Boston in 1987. In November of 2000 he was installed as Pastor of St.Joseph-St.Lazarus Church in East Boston where he served with dedication and devotion. Fr. John has served as a Consulate of Missionary Delegation Mother of the Church. He served for many years as the Chaplin for the House of Correction in Sharon and Middleton. Along with Fr John's dedication to the Priesthood, he was a devoted son and brother.
Services will conclude with Fr. John being laid to rest with his Don Orione Brothers and Sister in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
In honoring Fr. John's memory, Memorial Donation may be made to his adored St.Joseph-St.Lazarus Parish.
