IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Manyang Atem Mayiik

  January 1, 1981 -

June 17, 2012

We sat beside your bedside,

Our hearts were crushed and sore;

We did our best to the end,

'Til we could do no more.

In tears we watched you sinking,

We watched you fade away;

And though our hearts

were breaking,

We knew you could not stay.

You left behind some aching hearts,

That loved you most sincere;

We never shall and never will

Forget you Manyang dear.

Manyang was born in Sudan on January 1st, 1981. He came to America in 2001 and settled in Chelsea. Manyang worked in The Hilton Hotel at the Prudential Center in Boston soon after arriving in the United States and loved his job and co-workers who were like his extended family. Manyang passed away peacefully on Sunday June 17 in the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home after a brief illness surrounded by the love of his cousin James and his family.

Manyang's family would like to thank the staff, social workers and hospice at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home for the devotion, love and care they gave to Manyang while he was in the home. One of Manyang's greatest experiences was a staff member taking Manyang and another patients to the Ravens vs. Patriots football game earlier this year, just months before Manyang passed away. Everyone that had the pleasure of meeting Manyang loved him. He was a truly wonderful person.

In honoring Manyang's memory, memorial donations may be made to his parents by sending donations to the Funeral Home so they can arrange to forward them to his parents in Sudan.

Services will conclude with Manyang being laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
